The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel

59 Port Road, Hindmarsh SA 5007

We had a ball last time we were there so we’re so happy to be coming back. We hope you can join us there.

EVENT LINK: The GOV Gig Guide

Set one: 9 – 9.45pm

Set two: 10.15 – 11pm

Named after the first governor of South Australia, The Gov has seen a lot of changes over the past 162 years.
Since 1993, when the Tonkin family took over, The Gov has established itself as Adelaide’s leading live music venue and is highly regarded by musicians and music-lovers alike.
Between the regular local bands playing in the front bar and the world-class musicians featured in the Venue, The Gov really is Adelaide’s home of live, original music.

The Gov’s Front Bar and Saloon Bar provide a friendly environment for activities like the Adelaide Ukulele Appreciation Society meetings on Tuesdays, Open Mic Sessions on Wednesdays, Irish Jam Sessions on Fridays and live local bands on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The warm décor, polished wooden surfaces and fireplaces throughout make it a comfortable and welcoming place to be, especially in winter. In the Venue, pictures of famous musicians adorn the walls and the dimmed lighting booths around the room emphasises the intimate space, creating the perfect environment in which to see a favourite band.

Best Entertainment Venue in Australia

At the 2009 and 2012 Australian Hotels Association’s national Awards for Excellence, The Gov was awarded the title of ‘Best Entertainment Venue in Australia’. The Gov has also won the AHA Award for Excellence as the ‘Best Entertainment Venue in South Australia’ for the last six years, a streak which started in 2007. We were also inducted into the SA AHA Hall of Fame in 2011 as the ‘Best Entertainment Venue’.

Regarded amongst musicians as the key home of live music in Adelaide, The Gov benefits from the continued support of many artists who come back year after year, at times to play multiple nights in one visit.

Three Brothers Arms – Macclesfield

Grateful to a pub still committed so fully to live music, we’re pleased to be performing at the Three Brothers Arms, Macclesfield

ABOUT THE VENUE:
1841 Imagine Early Settlement
Back in 1840 when there was nothing much at all in the Adelaide Hills The Three Brothers Arms was imagined. Opened in March 1841 it was named The Goats Head Inn. Built on the higher bank of the Angus river it was blessed with a bountiful water supply and became THE Inn for the weary traveller. 10 years later in 1851 The Three Brothers Arms had its own brewery next door. The local beer won awards in Europe and England and kept the rangers and bushmen well watered for the next 60 years or so. In memory of this the Three Brothers Arms has brewed for them THE GOATS HEAD LAGER , a beer as refreshing as the original Angus river, but a lot more tasty.

The Three Brothers Arms prides itself in the fact that it is a NO Pokies establishment. Excellent A-La-Carte food and friendly service are the motto. Music and the arts are the foundation, held up of course by great Beer and many excellent local wines. The Three Brothers Arms is a great live music venue. The Heritage Bar with its original shingled roof and ancient stone work makes for great acoustics. Open fires in the colder months add to the rustic charm. Many a Friday night is filled with the sound of Live original musicians playing a mixture of Roots music. The Marquee out the back overlooking the Angus is also a fantastic site for social events. The Hotel boasts a cool back yard with lawns and Gums lining the Angus.

The kitchen is the Keystone of the Three Brothers Arms. Food that is prepared and presented with taste. All breads are made in-house as is the wonderful Pizza base. The Three brothers make a fantastic Pizza all year round. Everything is delivered fresh, prepared with local produce and served with a smile.
The Three Brothers Arms has a large selection of wines in its own cellar. Wines from many of the local winerys are on pour and ready for the tasting. The Three Brothers Arms is not only the oldest pub in the Adelaide Hills but is one of less than a handfull that still operates under its original license making it THE pub to come and visit while travelling the beautiful Adelaide Hills.

PROPPING UP THE OBSOLETE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY IS LIKE PROPPING UP A BUGGY WHIP FACTORY SO LET’S GET WITH THE NOW!

Tune in and hear it from the people that are not politically or financially motivated by Nuclear sales.

Sue talks to Des Lawrence today about South Australia’s “DUMB IDEA” to establish a National (and it now seems international) Radioactive Nuclear Waste Storage Facility (NRNWSF) in the Kimba / Hawker regions of our state.

Joining Sue and Des will be:

  • David Noonan: an Australian environmentalist.
  • Chris vonder Borch, Emeritus Professor of Geology
  • Leon Ashton, Resident of the Flinders Ranges.

OTHER RESOURCES:

DUMB IDEA from our reading of the facts:

  • Kimba is in the heart of our Prime and pristine agriculture district
  • Hawker is the gateway to the jewell in our South Australian tourist industry, The Flinders Ranges.
  • The rest of the world are reducing their Nuclear appetite.
    • nuclear power phaseout is the discontinuation of usage of nuclear power for energy production. … Following the March 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, Germany has permanently shut down eight of its 17 reactors and pledged to close the rest by the end of 2022.
  • Project leaders demonstrate little to no knowledge of the life cycle of a TN18 ZWILAG storage canister
    – ANSTO’s safety record is shameful
    – To be built within Australia’s most seismic regions
    – On a fault line
    – On a flood plain
    – Above ground
    – With national parks either side
    – Neighbouring working farmland
    – Near human habitation,
    – Defying traditional ownership appeals to STOP!
  • This is a decision that once made is irrevocable.

Tune in and hear it from the people that are not politically or financially motivated
